Provides feedback to design engineers and evaluates end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Working as expert, conducts research and evaluates technical performance of software products and overall segments and systems. Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods. Verifies/validates systems with specific emphasis on network operations and cyber warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures focused on the threat to information networks. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Prepares assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and analysis. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the
current system and traceability of requirements. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they verify/validate the requirements. Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing
requirements. Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government intelligence and operations officials.
Considered an emerging authority, who applies extensive technical expertise. Develops technical solutions to complex problems. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.
Duties: Technical Lead - Threat Analysis
Analyzes technical and intelligence information to provide cyber threat indications, warnings, and trends.
Performs assessments of malicious or suspicious activities to determine potential security risks.
Prepares and reviews threat reports, assessments, briefings, and other written products.
Engages in daily “information sharing” efforts with counterparts in the Law Enforcement, Intelligence, and Computer Network Defense communities.
Participates in inter-agency working groups, conferences, and task forces and provides relevant Department related data.
Leads and supervises lower-level analysts.
Education: Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 8 yrs of experience, or a Master's with 6 yrs of experience. A Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence, English, Communications, History, or other related technical or liberal art discipline is desired.
Four (4) additional years of general experience (as defined above) may be substituted for the degree.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in intelligence or technical analysis with increasing responsibilities.
Five (5) years of experience in intelligence or technical analysis with a focus on cyber threat analysis.
Three (3) years of technical task management and supervisory experience.
